1) As an 11th year...This is so completely correct!
1) As an 11th year teacher, I have no idea if I will ever see a paycheck reach $50K per year in my entire career.
2) Every one of my US History classes are over class-size regulations. My smallest class is 28 and my largest is 32! I am told this can be corrected if I give up my planning period, which would require me to do all grading and planning on my own time - I would still have 150 students, they'd just be spread out over 6 classes instead of 5.
3) The IPEGs "Review" process is pathetic and not really an appeal. This is YET ANOTHER ITEM that should have been bargained for this summer - this was treated as a successor contract, which it should not have been.
4) I have not personally seen retaliation, but I know that there is a great amount of fear among teachers, preventing them from speaking out. And when I recently told an administrator that his actions could be grounds for a grievance, he told me "Go ahead. Nothing will come of it and you know it!"
5) Opting out but not fighting for others to be able to is like politicians who sit on the K-12 Committee in Tallahassee putting their kids in private school.
6) The Leadership made a show in November of saying they needed to "educate themselves" on the problem of the shortage of substitutes. They have said nothing more on the situation. Just as they sent out a survey of the Class Size problem but have done NOTHING to follow up with anyone.
7) I am disgusted by the way the Council of Building Stewards meetings are run. Whenever someone not wearing a Frontline T-shirt speaks, they are heckled and the Current President, who is the person running the meeting, does nothing to restore order. Then someone wearing the t-shirt gets up to the mic and starts LECTURING the room that dissenters "Should be ashamed for questioning" or "Stop making issues that aren't issues." What?! Every Steward in that room is elected to represent the members at their school and if their members want a question asked then it is that Steward's JOB to question. IT IS NOT THE JOB OF THE STEWARD TO BLINDLY KISS THE COLLECTIVE TUCHUS OF THE CURRENT LEADERSHIP!!!!
7) Since Tornillo, there has been a cloud of suspicion over UTD. If posting school-by-school results removes that cloud, how does it hurt? It has been said that "our enemies will be able to use the information against us". How?! The opposing caucuses could target Frontline schools during an election period, maybe? But how outside of that? Instead, Frontline spends THOUSANDS to keep those results secret, increasing the thickness of the cloud over UTD and the amount of suspicion that goes with it.

Voting Frontline is saying you think everything is just fine the way it is. It's not.

Thank you for your efforts.AMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08065326352679566867noreply@blogger.com
